Interact is a Rotary sponsored program that involves young people in meaningful service projects while at the same time develop their leadership skills and initiative. Through their service activities, Interactors learn the importance of: developing leadership skills and personal dignity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work, and advancing international understanding and goodwill.

Almaden Valley Rotary sponsors two to four interact clubs, Pioneer High School, Oak Grove High School, Leland High School and Valley Christian High School.

This year's Interact District Governor is Tom Pae of Newark High School and Lt. Governor is Joanna Ly, Independence High School. According to Russ Danielson, Interact District Chairman, one of the areas of focus this Fall is a membership drive. There were 4,300 Interactors this past year. There are 8 new Interact Clubs in various stages of formation bringing the total to 77 clubs. The Fall Leadership Conference, October 28th, features workshops on the various aspects of Interact. The Interact clubs are being challenged to beat the attendance record set in 1998 at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill. Six hundred and ten members attended that conference!

President Paul awarded scholarships to three Oak Grove Interactors: Truc Nguyen, Jacqueline Tran, and Hanh Ly
Donna Dawson is the longtime interact advisor at Pioneer High School who introduced the scholarship winners from Pioneer High Interact; Monica Lozano and Mathew Pryor
Donna also introduced 2000/2001 Interact President for Pioneer as Kristina Wegscheider and introduced this year's outstanding interactor Natalie Humble
