SPEECH CONTEST RESULTS

Past President and Charter Member Bruce Bondelie explains the rules of the contest under which the participants will be governed and graded.

We had a good representation from both Leland and Oak Grove High Schools. The contestants from Oak Grove were sponsored by Ms Monica Sissino and those from Leland by Ms Gay Brasher. They all did a great job in their speeches and it was hard to determine who would be selected to be the winner until the final results were announced.

The contestants in the order in which they appeared were: Hann Ly of Oak Grove; Faris Mohiuddin of Leland; Hellen Jo of Oak Grove; Jackie Tran of Oak Grove; and Omar Shakir of Leland. After the speeches were finished, the smoke cleared, the credits were tallied and the First Place Winner and Alternate were named.

$100 first place check and

Omar Shakir was named
as alternate receiving $25.

All the other contestants received a $25 check for qualifying to compete in this speech contest. This contest makes for a great program and we all appreciate the cooperation of the teachers and the schools for being a partner with us in this endeavor. The real winners in this whole operation are the members of the various Rotary Clubs who sponsor the event. It is something to which we all look forward each year. Our thanks also to LeRoy Stark for bringing us these talents and to Bruce Bondelie in his role as Monitor and Master of Ceremonies. Looking forward to another next year - RIGHT?
