SPEECH CONTEST
PURPOSE
The Rotary Clubs of District 5170 in the Bay Area hold this Youth Speech Contest each year with three objectives in mind. First and foremost, to allow all High School students an opportunity to compete for prize money as the top public speaker in Rotary District 5170. The prizes are awarded "no strings attached", but it is our hope that the award might be used to further this talented student's education. Second, we hope to expand public knowledge of what Rotary is and does throughout the world, especially among young people. Through this, we hope they will learn as we have that truly, "He profits most who serves best". Last, but by no means least, we hope that by competing in our contest, more young people will come to know the importance of being able to speak effectively before a group.
