CLUB TRADITIONS



The Rotary Club of Almaden Valley have many traditions which have and have not lasted over the many years of the club's existence. The following are a listing of those traditions as best as can be recalled. Newer members can further these traditions as desired.
  • Officers
    • The current President-Elect announces his board at the Christmas Party
    • The past five presidents of the club establish a list of prospective President-Elects. The President-Elect for the coming Rotary year is chosen from the list starting with the name on top
    • The Past President serves as the Foundation Chairman
    • The President Elect serves as the Membership Chairman
    • A new tradition is that the Secretary and Treasurer serve for two years, alternating the start of the two years
  • Meetings
    • Meeting starts at 12:15pm and the guest speaker time is 1:00-1:30pm
    • 100% attendance was mandatory (including makeups)
    • Designate two members for each luncheon to be greeters
    • Recognize each member and spouse's birthdays and anniversary
    • Secretaries were invited to a luncheon on Secretaries week
  • Membership
    • Phone tree to call members for all occurrences
    • Ray Lester always provided the yule logs for the Christmas Party
    • Paul Uenaka always provided the poinsettias for the Christmas Party.
    • Paul Consentino hosted the Columbus Day Party and Joint Board in Reno/Tahoe
